Sägerücken: Literally "saw-back," referring to the serrated edge on the spine of the blade.
Seitengewehr mit Säge: "Bayonet with saw" (often abbreviated in records as s.S. or m.S. for mit Säge).
S.Abg. (Säge abgeschliffen): Denotes a sawback bayonet that had its teeth ground down later in the war due to propaganda.
