The Recreated 5 Garde-Regiment zu Fuß:
The 5th Guard Regiment of Foot (German: 5. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß), is a historical reenactment group portraying the Prussian guard during the Great War. We strive to preserve military and – to a certain degree- also the cultural legacy of the Prussian guards by depicting the guardsmen’s experiences in encampments, skirmishes, battles, and on the march.
The Prussian Guard is the heir to a princely German past, which is almost without equal in the annals of military history. Thus it is expected of guardsmen to behave with honor and to never bring shame to the regiment.
The Guard’s impression consists of: drill (manual of arms), parade (marching in formation), mock battles,
field days, maneuvers, comradeship, laughing, singing, and generally having a good time in a rewarding historically correct recreation of what once was.
Knowledge of German is not necessary for membership but use of German is strongly encouraged. Polish and Lithuanian would also be welcomed for representing those linguistic minorities within the Imperial German Army.
