Model 1895 Ammunition Pouch
(M95 Patronentaschen)
Patronentaschen 1895 (Bavaria: M1896)Collector's/Reenactor's Term: M95 Ammo Pouch Details: Replacing the difficult Model1887/88 Ammuntion pouch, the M95 Ammunition Pouch was produced. It followed basic guidelines for dimensions: 9cm tall 14cm-15cm in width 6cm in depth It was designed to have three 'cells' divided by two parchment leather strips that was supposed to hold three 15 round cardboard boxes each, 45 rounds total. There was a black linen twill used to help assist the removal of the boxes. There was however a small metal plate within the 'front' of the box to help prevent the cardboard boxes from falling out. These can been seen in use during WW1, notable use being seen with Bavarian, Landsturm, and various other Regiments. However they were replaced by the M1909 Ammo Pouches due to larger amounts of ammunition being stored. Examples shown: The examples shown were made in Berlin and Strassburg.
